Hamilton Public Health Services hosts STOP (Smoking Treatment for Ontario Patients) sessions to help people quit smoking.
Workshop participants attend a 2-hour workshop where they receive a group psychoeducation presentation and a cost-free 5-week kit of nicotine patches to support their quit attempt.
Five weeks of free nicotine patches (short-acting NRT such as gum will NOT be offered at this session)
A practical support for alleviation of nicotine withdrawal symptoms, which has been shown to be effective to help people quit smoking
Educational material to encourage participants to make broader changes that can improve overall health
Referrals to community resources for ongoing support
